Bio

Roberta Raccomandato holds a master’s degree in “Arts and Heritage: Policy, Management and Education” (University of Maastricht, 2023). Previously, she
graduated in “Drama, Art, and Music Studies” (University of Palermo, 2022). In October 2023, she embarked on her Ph.D. journey in Cultural Management at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, as part of the ERC Starting Grant project titled "MOOVA - Making Old Objects Valuable Again: The Cultural, Economic Challenges, and Sustainability Opportunities of Antiques in the 21st Century." Her main research interests are participatory heritage practices, the relationship between cultural and economic value, the interactions between society and material culture, and qualitative methods adopted in art market research. In the context of the MOOVA project, she is currently focusing on informal heritage categories that are not officially recognized in the margins of a traditional definition of heritage. Specifically, her research delves into uncovering the cultural value and uniqueness inherent in ordinary antiques, emphasizing the pivotal role these movable objects play as integral components of our cultural heritage. At a later stage, her research will also include an investigation on the involvement of local antique dealers in preserving and assessing our cultural heritage.
